The company was founded in 1997 when Rachel Ellen hung up her career as a professional ballet dancer and started to develop her charming drawing style with great attention to detail at the kitchen table in her flat in London. The interest in the colourful eye-catchers was soon so great that she moved back to her home town of Nottingham to expand her business. She now employs around 30 people and has won numerous awards and prizes.
